Ashley Stead concentrates her practice on municipal and labor and employment law. Ms. Stead represents the firm's public and private clients on a variety of matters, including intergovernmental agreements, employment issues, and compliance with the Open Meetings Act and the Freedom of Information Act. In addition, Ms. Stead drafts resolutions, ordinances, policies and legislation for units of local government.
Prior to joining Del Galdo Law Group, LLC, Ms. Stead served as Associate Legal Counsel in the Office of the Senate President John J. Cullerton where she provided legal counsel to members of the Illinois State Senate Democratic Caucus. She served as the lead legal staffer on the Senate Labor Committee and Senate Environment and Conservation Committee. Ms. Stead also served as legal counsel to the bipartisan 2018 Senate Sexual Discrimination and Harassment Awareness and Prevention Task Force. During her time with the Senate, Ms. Stead helped craft laws and advised members on policies to address sexual harassment in Illinois' workplaces, promote fair labor practices, and strengthen environmental protections throughout the State. Prior to her employment with the Illinois State Senate, Ms. Stead spent a number of years in the civil litigation world with a focus on employment discrimination, civil rights, and commercial litigation.
Ms. Stead graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minor in Communication. Ms. Stead went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law where she competed on the school’s nationally ranked National Moot Court team, clerked for the Cook County Public Defender’s Office and the Cook County Circuit Courts, and served as Student Director for one of the school’s legal clinics.
