K. Austin Zimmer - Senior Partner

At Del Galdo Law Group, LLC, K. Austin Zimmer serves as the Chairman of the Firm’s Litigation Department. Mr. Zimmer focuses his practice on federal and state litigation representing primarily governmental bodies, elected officials, police officers and other public employees. Furthermore, Mr. Zimmer counsels his clients on developing practices and procedures in an effort to avoid litigation.

Mr. Zimmer, a trial lawyer since 2001, has been the lead lawyer in more than 100 civil rights defense cases. Before joining Del Galdo Law Group, LLC, Mr. Zimmer was employed as an Assistant State's Attorney with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. During his time as an Assistant State's Attorney, Mr. Zimmer worked in the Special Prosecutions Unit and tried over 100 cases. At Del Galdo Law Group, LLC, Mr. Zimmer has become a seasoned litigator and has been successful in securing many defense verdicts in federal and state jury trials. Moreover, Mr. Zimmer has argued several cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Illinois Appellate Court.

Further, Mr. Zimmer regularly lectures in the areas of civil rights and municipal liability to insurance companies and police departments. Also, he has served as an expert witness in the area of municipal litigation.


  • Dominick v. Dominick - Federal jury trial; Represented the Town of Cicero and secured a judgment in favor of President Larry Dominick and the Town of Cicero.
  • Delgadillo v. Steinhagen et al - 3 week federal jury trial; Secured 100% defense verdict in employment discrimination case.
  • Duran et al v. Town of Cicero et al - 6 week federal jury trial; 78 plaintiffs sued the Town of Cicero and 12 of its police officers; The defense team secured verdicts of not guilty against 55 of the 78 plaintiffs and limited plaintiffs to a monetary recovery of only 10% of their trial demand.
  • Proviso Township High School Dist. 209 v. Gregory Jackson - Represented School District 209 at trial before the Circuit Court of Cook County and Illinois Appellate Court.
  • Reed v. Ogle County - Represented County and was successful in having all claims dismissed against Defendants in wrongful death lawsuit.
  • Soriano v. Vitalo - Secured a judgment for Defendants and successfully argued case on appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
  • Moore v. City of Chicago Heights - Represented City and secured summary judgment in its favor in wrongful death lawsuit.
  • Zima v. City of Berwyn - Represented City and secured dismissal of all claims against the City in a wrongful termination case brought by a police officer.
