Makiz Salehzai
Makiz Salehzai joined Del Galdo Law Group in 2024 as a law clerk. Makiz worked at Del Galdo Law Group throughout her time in law school, gaining substantial experience in various areas of school law, labor law, employment law, as well as negotiating collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), reviewing contracts, and other issues governed by the Illinois School Code. Makiz has worked on matters before the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Illinois Department of Human Rights. After graduating law school, Makiz returned to Del Galdo Law group full-time, passed the bar exam, and began working as an attorney.
Makiz graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law with a pro bono notation for performing over 60 hours of pro bono service throughout law school. She also worked as a student-attorney at the College’s Medical Legal Partnership Clinic in conjunction with Carle Foundation Hospital once she obtained her 711 license. In her role, Makiz assisted clients with a variety of legal issues such as family matters, public benefit appeals, guardianship petitions, and advance directives. Makiz also worked at Land of Lincoln Legal Aid’s expungement clinic, where she assisted eligible clients in sealing and/or expunging eligible offenses to support their access to education, public benefits, and housing. Additionally, Makiz externed at the Chicago Bar Foundation where she worked on initiatives improving accessibility to justice.
